The stickiest glue in manufacturing!
In the manufacturing industry, adhesives are the foundation of every product available. To the customer, the type of adhesive used can greatly alter the strength and composition of the product you are purchasing. Polyurethane glue, or PUR for short, is a versatile and durable adhesive that is comprised of various chemicals to adapt to different surface types.
Whatever the composition is, most polyurethane adhesives do not melt when heated. The glue will work on the vast majority of materials including timber, metals, leather, tiles and glass. The type of glue is separated from other adhesives used in the manufacturing business by a number of attributes. Some of the advantages are as follows:
It is waterproof, and can set in an environment which is full of moisture
Can be used as a hot melt glue, meaning it sets and holds without clamping
Makes an incredibly strong and immovable bond
Can bond both porous, and non porous materials
Sets at a quick, but manageable pace.

PUR glue is an alternative to a more traditional glue like PVA. The PVA glue is suitable for use with timber however it does not hold the same waterproof capabilities as PUR and does not create a bond as strong. This means that surfaces which are bonded with PUR would be more suitable for use in the wet areas of your home. When exposed to moisture, the glue foams and then hardens, the foam can move into small gaps making it stellar for joinery. The dried glue can be sanded, once cured, and then painted to apply a flawless finish. The glue does not creep once dried and will not be susceptible to cracking either.
Why does all this matter to you? Because the manufacturing process, and the product composition, is integral to the durability and applications of a product. For example, the use of PUR adhesive can separate a material for use outdoor rather than indoor due to its water and heat resistant capabilities.
