Corian is a surface like no other. It houses some of the most versatile attributes in the decorative surface industry. This includes characteristics we have yet to see in other market surfaces. These include an element of translucency and thermoforming, made possible by the unique composition of the material. These amazing and innovative aspects of Corian will be explored in depth in the following article.

Technology

Corian can offer more than just an everyday surface. An inclusion of recent technology has incorporated a surface that can charge your phone! Perfect for desk space in schools or offices, a small transistor is placed on the underside of the surface allowing some brands of phone to be rested directly opposite and charge wirelessly. We predict that this kind of technology will begin to become more prominent in surfaces, and has been achieved with ease by Corian.

Thermoforming

Corian can be heated and moulded to certain shapes and angles which the majority of surface cannot achieve. This opens up a list of new design capabilities for custom furniture and cladding, as the surface can be rounded on the edges without damage. The rounded edges and angles are done by exposing the surface to extreme heat which makes it maneuverable.

Translucency

With a range of translucent products, Corian can be backlight to achieve a new level of design capabilities. There are varying thicknesses in the products allowing for different levels of light and translucency. There are also different colours and patterns that all have a unique lighting effect on the room it finds itself in. This level of aesthetics has become more and more popular in decorative surfaces. For example Caesarstone’s Concetto surface can also be backlit to form unique patterns through the equally unique surface.

Colour

The composition of a product such as this allows for a greater colour range that most resistant surfaces. There are ranges with natural veins, bold colours, harsh whites and blacks and the aforementioned translucent colours. This combines with the attributes such as the thermoforming capability to continue expanding the design prospect for the service. Corian also can be engraved with certain designs and also can be raised in areas to create a particular texture texture. This adds another element of customisation to the surface to suit all needs.

The rest

The list goes on. Corian is resistant to UV and scratching not to mention staining. With the colour range and design potential of Corian, it is hard to overlook this surface when making a decision about which innovative material you wish to use in your home or next project.
